About Us

OUR MISSION IS TO EXPRESS THE LOVE OF CHRIST BY SERVING AND CARING FOR PEOPLE IN NEED.

Lutheran Social Services of Nevada (LSSN) is a trusted Las Vegas grassroots nonprofit organization. A dedicated group of local volunteers started the agency many years ago by providing food and clothing to our community members. It has since grown to become a grassroots organization known for its diverse services. LSSN serves persons of all demographics such as, low-income, at-risk of homelessness, homeless, families with or without children, youth, veterans, people with disabilities, and senior citizens. Since 1996, over 209,000 individuals have been cared for by the agency. We offer comprehensive social services such as homeless prevention and rapid rehousing, online grocery style food pantry, massive food distribution, (bread, fresh vegetables, fruit, meats, dairy, and non-perishable food items) nutrition education classes and live cooking demonstrations, senior citizen meal services, homeless prevention and rapid rehousing, mainstream benefits applications, and other safety net services.

Some of our achievements are highlighted below:

1985 Began serving the community by opening a food pantry and clothing closet. 2013 Introduced a Nutrition Education Kitchen to provide clients with healthy cooking demonstrations.
2008 Moved to a larger facility in order to open an innovative new food pantry featuring a grocery style layout offering greater choices for our clients. 2014 Established a senior meal program, which was the first congregate senior meal program funded from the State of Nevada Aging and Disability Division in the last 12 years.
2012 Pioneered the Open Air Mobile Market to provide fresh produce and other food in “food desert” areas around Southern Nevada. 2016 Awarded the Partner Agency of the Year by Three Square Food Bank out of their 1,300 partners. Launched the first online digital food pantry system – DigiMart. Received the Las Vegas High Tech Exec Award for that system.
