DONATE FOOD & OTHER ITEMS
|
|
The food pantry of Lutheran Social Services of Nevada relies heavily on food
donations to fill our inventory and allow us to distribute as much needed
food to struggling Nevadans as possible. The community's generous donations
enable us to meet the growing need for nutritious perishable and
non-perishable foods.
Please note that Derrick Felder is the contact for food pick-up scheduling. He can be reached at derrick@lssnv.org or
702-639-1730, ext. 16.
As the "chilly" weather begins, our January theme is "Comfort Foods of
Winter". Suggested items include canned chilis, soups, and stews, along
with cornbread and muffin mixes.
Sharing the love of St. Valentine, our congregational monthly food
donationtheme for February is "Gifts from the Heart." Suggested food
items for the month are boxed foods, such as mashed potatoes, rice, stuffing, macaroni &
cheese, Jell-O & pudding mixes, cereals, instant soups, and Hamburger or
Tuna Helper.
Looking forward to St. Patrick's Day, our theme for March will be "The
I(s) of March", focusing on Italian and Irish dishes. Suggested food items
will include potatoes (fresh, boxed, or canned), corned beef, canned hash,
mixed veggies, canned carrots, and any non-perishable Italian food items
(such as pasta, sauce, Italian green beans, and cannelini beans).

Dear Friends in Christ,
LSSN's move is proceeding according to schedule, and as of September 12th,
we look forward to serving and caring for those in need at our new location
at 73 Spectrum Blvd.
As we settle into the new building, we are hoping once again for your
help. There are a number of items that we currently have on our "wish list"
to not only make our new home functional, but also showcasing the dignity
that we take so seriously at LSSN.
As such, we are looking for donations of the following items. Should you
be able to help, please contact Tom Maatta at Thomas@lssnv.org or
702-807-5707.
For our new conference room/client computer lab/resource and teaching center:
- 2 white boards
- 35 office type chairs-to be used for conference tables and
computer work stations
- 2-4 standing decorative plants (artificial would be preferred)
- 2-3 motivational posters
- A nice sofa set
- A TV to be used for training purposes (flat screen preferred)
- Bookcase
- A workstation for one of our staff member: office desk and office
chair
For LSSN's staff break room:
- A dining set (tables with chairs)
- Microwave
- Toaster-Oven
- Decorative Pictures/Photos/Posters for small walls
- Decorative plants
- General nice decorations
For our client waiting room:
- 40 lobby chairs (preferably matching)
- Pictures for the wall
- A decorative standing plant and bookcase
For the "children's corner" in our client waiting room:
- Toys
- Pictures
- Books
- Coloring books
For the Food Pantry:
- Home Depot or Lowe's gift cards for LSSN to purchase paint and
needed equipment
For our staff offices:
- 1 large conference room table
- Cubicles set up for 6 staff members, including the cubicle
dividers, desks, and office chairs
- 10 filing cabinets with keys - these cabinets must be able to
lock, as they store sensitive information.
As a part of our expansion, LSSN plans to partner with an existing Mental
Health provider to offer those services in the new building. To furnish
that section, we are hoping for:
- 2 sofa sets
- 2 desks
- 12 chairs
- 3 bookcases
- A medium size conference table
- 3 plants
- Decorative pictures and posters
Finally, LSSN hopes to use part of our new space to provide an additional
service for our Supportive Housing Program clients. Named "Dress for
Success", we are hoping to start a small clothing closet offering
appropriate attire for job interview purposes for both men and women.
To begin, we will need the following:
- 5-7 clothing racks
- 1 - 2 large mirrors for the changing room.
- Appropriate dividers/curtains for the changing room.
- Good quality items of clothing appropriate for job interview
purposes, for both men and women.
- Shelves
Again, we thank you for your generosity and for your thoughtfulness. All
of us at LSSN look forward to welcoming you to our new home... once we get
through the growing pains.
May God bless you all.
Yours in Christ,
Armena Mnatsakanyan, Executive Director
