Our Supportive Services Division offers services designed to support those in our community during life transitions. Our Supportive Housing Program offers housing for homeless families for up to 24 months and intensive case management. The Project 4 Youth Program combines drug prevention education; parent and youth education through Parenting Wisely and the Parent and Youth Developmental Assets workshops. In addition, community service opportunities exist for youth ages 11-17. These programs make a difference in the lives of youth and parents through education, commitment and participation.

The number of homeless in Las Vegas is difficult to measure, however it is estimated to be 13,000 on any given night. Clark County School District estimates well over 2,500 children now enrolled in district schools can be identified as homeless. The actual number is probably much higher. In Las Vegas, families with children are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population.

Our Supportive Housing Program facilitates keeping homeless families intact and off the streets. This community-based program offers homeless families in the community, whose other resources have been exhausted, transitional housing with wrap around supportive services. These services help to empower their transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency. The program is an employment based and goal orientated stabilization program (education, counseling, etc.) It requires the head of household to be willing and able to participate in a written case service plan, which will within 24 months facilitate long-term stabilization, employment and housing.

Project 4 Youth Program

Project 4 Youth combines community service projects, youth development, Parent and Youth Developmental Assets workshops, and the model drug prevention program, "Project Towards No Drug Abuse." The program serves Clark County youth 11-17 years old and their parents. The goals of P4Y are to reduce the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drug usage while promoting positive alternatives and attitudes; to increase the youth's knowledge and help them with self-control skills.
