Armena Mnatsakanyan, MPA
Armena Mnatsakanyan has held the position of Executive Director of Lutheran Social Services of Nevada since August 2008. She has over 21 years of nonprofit management experience. Mrs. Mnatsakanyan is a graduate of Yerevan State University in her country of origin, Armenia. She received her Masters of Public Administration from the University of Delaware in 2000. Her extensive experience as Director of Operations and Development with Mission Armenia, a 15-million dollar public agency with international branches and 28 regional offices, prepared her for the challenges and opportunities of expanding the social services currently offered by Lutheran Social Services of Nevada. Ms. Mnatsakanyan has extensive experience in securing, administering, monitoring and reporting on large scale local, regional and US federal programs. She designed, managed, monitored and continually assessed social and health service programs, established local, regional and federal programs and financial monitoring, reporting and evaluation systems. Mrs. Mnatsakanyan is fluent in Armenian, Russian and English. She is the author of two children’s books and numerous articles, poems and novels, and a translator of four books. Armena brings to LSSN a unique combination of social service administration knowledge, passion and hands-on experience working with people who have been marginalized through the struggles and tragedies of life. Her life experiences, coming of age in her native nation during the aftermath of a deadly earthquake and in the shadow of the demise of the former Soviet Union, shaped her character to be a woman of compassion, vision and action.
Facilities and Nutrition Manager
Derrick Felder is a United States Marine Veteran who served over 12 years protecting his country. After working various jobs in the private sector, he changed directions to the non profit field. Derrick has moved through the agency holding several key positions prior to becoming the Development and Marketing Director. For two years Derrick managed the Supportive Housing Program that housed 13 families. During this time his collateral duty was managing the Food Pantry. Derrick brings with him 8 years of non profit experience from Goodwill of Southern Nevada. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2013. He has a broad focus of providing complete services to those in the community that need assistance. His dedication to client stabilization provides him the motivation to succeed in finding partners that share the same mission.
Client Services Manager
Cherry began her career at Lutheran Social Services of Nevada as an intern 5 years ago. Soon after, she was hired as a Case Coordinator for the Supportive Housing Program to prevent and alleviate homelessness in our community. In her new position as Client Services Manager, Cherry not only oversees the Rental/Utility Assistance Programs of Lutheran Social Services of Nevada but supervises key government safety net services. Cherry holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services.
Marisa Cervantes is the Program Director and has been an employee of Lutheran Social Services of
Nevada since July 2011. She has had the opportunity to work in a variety of programs at LSSN, including the Temporary Financial Assistance Program, Supportive Housing, the SNAP Outreach Program and the F.E.E.D. Program. Marisa attended Eastern Washington University and studied Social Work. She has nearly 10 years of experience in social services
and the non-profit field and has a passion to help people in need.
After spending 16 years in Accounting at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, Victoria began working at Lutheran Social Services of Nevada in 2014. Victoria hails from the state of Washington where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Washington State University then attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas focusing on Not for Profit Accounting. Her career in Finance has brought her all over the country including Hawaii, Wyoming and Alaska.
