In June, LSSN is partnering with True Colors United on a community-wide lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning (LGBTQ) cultural inclusivity training challenge with all local homeless service providers.
According to a study from Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, LGBTQ young people are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than non-LGBTQ youth. Over the month of June, over 20 homeless service providers and 600 individuals throughout Nebraska and Nevada will participate in the “True Colors Pride Challenge” in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall. The “True Colors Pride Challenge,” provided by the True Colors Learning Community’s free online training course, establishes a common understanding about LGBTQ youth homelessness.
“The online courses provide an individualized learning experience that allows everyone to move at their own pace,” said Gregory Lewis, True Colors United Executive Director & CEO. “The True Colors Pride Challenge is the perfect opportunity to get folks galvanized around the issue of LGBTQ youth homelessness.”
You can track our community progress and see how many of us have completed the challenge by visiting the 2019 True Colors Pride Challenge Dashboard here.
